I never noticed how a little getaway can totally reenergize you and put you back on track. I surprised Mariah with a 3 day getaway to Atlantic City, NJ (neither one of us had ever been there before) and we just got back! We stayed in the Waterfront Tower at Harrah’s Resort after some friends recommended it and the photos of its pool definitely sold me!
The good thing about AC is that you don’t get stuck in just the hotel. We had the option of going to the pool/hot tubs, going to the boardwalk, checking out the other hotel and casinos, or just wandering around the hotel!
The first day we got there around 4pm because that was check in time so we were able to go to the pool for a little, have dinner in the hotel, and then check out the casino! I must say, I definitely love those little scratch offs that you can buy anywhere and if it was up to me, I would buy about 100 a day (is that considered a problem?) so I was pretty excited about the casino. The first little slot we went to, we had NO idea what we were doing and lost $5 in about 2 seconds. BUT then we found “Tiger Khan”. Oh my… I felt like all of a sudden I was a professional gambler (funny because I think the max you can win on that machine is $100) and I kept winning, kept spending, kept winning, kept spending and it was just a vicious cycle. So I played $40, won back my $40 and an additional $15 and I felt like I was pretty much a pro and untouchable. LUCKILY, I didn’t keep playing because then I probably would have lost everything but it’s just so much fun!
Day 2, we headed to the boardwalk. The weather was perfect! Not too hot, not too windy, and the sky was clear. We went in regular clothes though because honestly we aren’t really the type of people who enjoy laying on a beach for hours so we just wanted to look at the beach but walk around. We found an arcade which was so much fun and we discovered their photo booth so of course had to stop and take some pictures. I hate when the photo booths have the display on the outside so everyone who is walking by can see your corny little poses and smiles but once I noticed this one didn’t have that display, we jumped in.
Then it was time for the rides! Mariah is afraid of roller coasters but she decided to be a “dare devil” and ride the Crazy Mouse (which honestly is for little kids but I was still proud of her). We got on together and had to share a little car with these 2 young boys. From that point on, everything went downhill! Since the 2 little boys were on one side and we were on the other, the weight was totally not distributed evenly and that made our little car keep spinning and spinnning and spinningggg. I thought I snapped my neck at least 3 different times and I was afraid Mariah was slowly having a panic attack. When that ride stopped and I saw her face, I was afraid! We had to run to the bathroom because she ended up throwing up 2 times. so kuddus for her for going on a ride but wow that ride really sucked.
That night we checked out the “Pool After Dark” party which our hotel throws twice a week. It was actually really nice! The DJ was great and the way the pool looked with all the strobe and laser lights, was awesome. The crowd was really cool and mixed and although we only stayed for 1.5 hours, we enjoyed it and now know that we definitely would go back there with a group of friends.
This afternoon we had to check out :( and I was NOT excited but I’m happy we got to go for a few days and we really really enjoyed ourselves! I think i’m ready to go back to school in a week and I can honestly say I enjoyed my summer. I can’t believe it went by so quickly. I went to Greece for 3 weeks, started a new job, went to AC, had many dinner dates with my friends, and now it’s time to go back to studying!
This is my last year, I’m almost there!!!
(by the way, all these photos were taken with my iPhone and not with my DSLR so excuse the quality)
